Terrebonne General Health System Honors Fritz Rau, M.D., with the Golden Stethoscope Award

Houma, LA --Terrebonne General Health System presented Dr. Fritz Rau, General Surgeon, with the the Golden Stethoscope Award. The prestigious Golden Stethoscope Award is designed to publicly recognize a Terrebonne General Health System physician for his or her exceptional level of professionalism, integrity, and teamwork in caring for patients and families, as well as interacting with hospital staff members and other physicians. The program asks for nominations from physicians, employees, patients, and volunteers, and recognizes two physicians a year.

“It is a privilege to announce Dr. Fritz Rau as a recipient of the Golden Stethoscope Award. He has provided outstanding care to his patients for over 38 years,” said Phyllis Peoples, president, and CEO. “Dr. Fritz is committed to his patients and his practice which has led to generations of family members trusting him with their healthcare needs. He previously served as our Chief of Staff and he is a valued member of the Terrebonne General family. ”

Dr. Rau attended college at Nicholls State University, received his medical degree from Louisiana State University, and completed his residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. He is board-certified in Surgery by the American Board of Surgery and has been on staff at Terrebonne General since 1983.

“I am honored to be recognized alongside of some amazing physicians for this award,” said Dr. Fritz Rau. “I guess this means I’m getting old,” Dr. Rau added.
